Elevating the Conversation Around DEI in the Workplace

Lloyd Lewis, President and CEO of The Arc Thrift Stores

When it comes to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), we don’t think of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Currently, there are over 6 million people in the U.S. with IDD. There is also an 80% unemployment rate among this population. With 11 million jobs open nationally that are proving difficult to fill, why can’t some of them be filled by someone with IDD? As the president and CEO of one of Colorado’s largest nonprofits and service organizations, The Arc Thrift Stores, and as the father of a young man with Down syndrome, I have seen firsthand how powerful inclusivity is. When I first came to arc in 2005, we had only 500 employees and 17 stores. Today we have 1,700 employees and 35 stores. When I started, we had 10 employees with IDD (our Ambassadors); today we have over 400. Join me for a discussion elevating DEI in the workplace and the positive impacts it has on the people, culture, and bottom line of any organization.

Breaking Barriers: Employing People with Disabilities

Tiffany Garcia - Colorado Department of Labor & Employment

In this presentation, we will learn about five common barriers people with disabilities face when it comes to employment, and what you can do as an employer to reduce barriers in your company’s recruitment process. These barriers include Physical, Communication, Technology, Systemic, and Attitudinal Barriers. By reducing barriers to your company’s recruitment process, you will begin to attract more diverse talent, including those with disabilities, thus leading to more opportunities for you to find the best-qualified candidates for your positions, and increase workplace diversity, teamwork, motivation, and a positive workplace culture.

Six Steps to Accommodation Success

Maggie Sims, Rocky Mountain ADA Center

The EEOC recommends that employers use an “interactive process” to determine reasonable accommodation when needed for an employee with a disability. This simply means that employers and employees with disabilities who request accommodations work together to come up with effective workplace adjustments. Here are six steps to help employers navigate the accommodation process in the workplace.

The Science of Success: How to Create a Life You Love! - Colorado Springs - Multiple Dates

Learn timeless principles to start living your life by design -- instead of by default -- and create a life of joy and freedom that you love

IT’S TIME.

Transform your DREAMS into REALITY. Your GOALS into ACHIEVEMENTS. Your THINKING into RESULTS.

• If you want something MORE OUT OF LIFE, but aren't sure what it is …

• If you've tried to make CHANGES IN THE PAST, without success …

• If you have a SPECIFIC GOAL, but don't know how to achieve it …

Here is some INCREDIBLE NEWS:

You CAN get anything you seriously want. GUARANTEED.

The realization of a goal is not a complicated process. In fact, it's a simple matter of cause and effect. As straightforward, consistent, and reliable as 2 + 2 = 4.

The problem is, most people set and go after goals the wrong way.

If you want different results, you need to ignite change at the level where your results are created in the first place -- in your THINKING.

When you do that, achieving your goals becomes not merely "possible" or "probable" … it becomes INEVITABLE.

Imagine …

• Having a complete, clear vision on HOW to achieve the HUGE goals you have set

• Being able to smash through FEAR and take ACTION

• Completely eliminating PROCASTINATION

• Installing an automatic SUCCESS MINDSET

• Making DECISIONS quickly

• Creating a SELF-IMAGE that lets you achieve more success in your life

• Becoming so PRODUCTIVE that you get more done yet have MORE TIME

• Creating a new FINANCIAL THERMOSTAT of your own choosing

Register now for free for this empowering and impactful online class to learn a step-by-step formula that will help you DESIGN and IMPLEMENT the results you've always wanted.

IMAGINE BREAKING FREE AND ACHIEVING MORE IN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS THAN YOU HAVE IN YEARS!

Hi, I'm Christina Nevins. If you're anything like I used to be, you just know there has to be more to life. I used to feel each day as though I were "hanging on by my fingernails," just getting through each day's seemingly endless list of tasks and responsibilities, only to do it all over again the next day. I was living my life by default.

I wanted to experience more joy and freedom in my life, but instead I experienced depression and anxiety with disturbing regularity. Somewhere deep down inside me, I knew there had to be a better way. That the way I was living -- basically just "existing" -- was not how it was meant to be.

This desire for more sent me on a quest that lasted a few years and ultimately led me to my mentor, Bob Proctor. You may know of him. He was a star of the hit movie, "The Secret," and one of the top teachers in the world in the field of human growth and potential.

Learning from Bob, I came to understand some very powerful information that I had never heard before. I began to learn how results happen and how to permanently change my mindset and my behavior.

Once I learned and began implementing this information, my life improved dramatically. I became calmer, happier, and more fulfilled. I am now filled with hope and excitement for the future and feel alive, on fire, and living in my purpose!

I have made it my life's work to share this formula to success with others, so they too can experience true freedom, fulfillment, health, wealth, and happiness.

The life-altering content you will experience in this class is based on more than 150 years of real-world experience and tremendous success, with a lineage tracing back to Andrew Carnegie and Napoleon Hill.

You most likely KNOW -- deep down -- that you can BE MORE, DO MORE, HAVE MORE, and GIVE MORE, but you may not know HOW to do it. Imagine discovering your real potential and finally living a life without restrictions.

If this is a mindset -- and a lifestyle -- you can relate to, register for this online class NOW.

You'll receive a Zoom link via email. I look forward to seeing you there!

Ayama with Amy Yoga Class - Mindful Movement for All Abilities - Multiple dates

  • 459 Windchime Place Colorado Springs, CO, 80919 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

A slow flow Yoga class to reconnect with oneself.

My name is Amy, born and raised in Arizona and in 2021, my family and I escaped the desert for mountain living here in The Springs. To say that movement has played a key role in my life would be an understatement. I was an athlete growing up, then went on to study Kinesiology & Nutrition at Arizona State University. I went on to work in corporate wellness settings and I've taught hundreds of people to feel confident, grounded, and strong using movement as a conduit, and now I am ready to teach you! Here is my formal invitation to join us on Wednesday's at 4:30pm for a slow flow yoga session at Sacred Space Therapeutics.

Yoga is more than handstands at sunset and bending over backward. The practice and lifestyle of yoga is not just about the perfect posture, it's about creating a deeper connection and awareness of ourselves.

Yoga is a conduit through which you can explore and re-ignite a relationship with yourself.

Breathe deeper, increase core strength, and improve flexibility & balance.

Yoga will only enhance your performance in your favorite hobbies, thus making you more resilient and capable both on and off the mat.
